Clinical Aspects of Scalp Cooling in Chemotherapy-Induced Alopecia

Scalp cooling was found to reduce or prevent hair loss in approximately 50% of patients undergoing chemotherapy, depending on the type of chemotherapy used. Pharmacological interventions were not sufficient to prevent hair loss. Research conducted by the Leiden University Medical Center and other Dutch hospitals aimed to optimize scalp cooling methods to decrease the incidence of hair loss.
