TLDR Scalp texture changes during hair regrowth after chemotherapy.
This study investigates the impact of anticancer drugs on the scalp, which is crucial for improving the quality of life of cancer patients. It consists of three parts: a literature review on chemotherapy-induced alopecia (Study 1), a quantitative image analysis of scalp conditions in 4 female patients with hair loss and 30 without (Study 2), and a longitudinal study of scalp changes during hair regrowth in one patient (Study 3). The image analysis revealed significant differences in texture features between those with and without hair loss, indicating changes in scalp texture and morphology. These findings suggest that scalp texture changes during hair regrowth and that imaging analysis can verify morphological characteristics of the scalp related to hair loss.
