    The study investigated the incorporation of trace amounts of Selenium-75 (Se75) into dog hair. Se75 was injected subcutaneously into dogs in the form of Se75O3 and was found to be deposited and retained in the hair for up to 316 days. The selenium was specifically located in the cystine-rich protein keratin, isolated as S-sulfo-kerateine, and in the cystine fraction from the hair. The research discusses the source of selenium that becomes part of the hair protein.
