TLDR People with acne tend to have lower iron levels.
This study explores the relationship between serum ferritin levels and acne vulgaris, involving 70 acne patients and 70 matched controls. It found that individuals with acne had significantly lower median serum ferritin levels (19.0 ng/mL) compared to healthy controls (30.4 ng/mL). Additionally, 55.7% of acne patients showed ferritin deficiency (≤20 ng/mL), with 21.4% having very low levels. These findings suggest a potential link between iron status and acne, highlighting the importance of considering micronutrient levels in acne pathogenesis.
