TLDR Artificial hair implants can still cause side effects despite improvements.
This document presented two case reports highlighting complications from artificial hair implants using biocompatible fibers. In the first case, a 27-year-old woman with congenital alopecia experienced severe scalp inflammation and pain after receiving 9,000 fibers without initial tolerance testing or proper aftercare, leading to a granulomatous foreign-body reaction. In the second case, a 54-year-old woman with androgenic alopecia developed tender nodules and pus after 1,000 fibers were implanted, requiring fiber extraction to resolve symptoms. The reports emphasized the importance of patient selection, initial tolerance testing, and proper aftercare to prevent complications, as well as the need for adherence to recommended procedures to ensure patient safety and satisfaction.
