TLDR Eczema is the most common skin condition among children in Istanbul.
The study analyzed 850 pediatric patients in Istanbul to assess the prevalence of skin conditions. Eczema was the most common, affecting 32.7% of children, followed by non-classifiable dermatoses (28.5%) and infectious diseases (13.4%). Hair disorders, including alopecia areata, were present in 3.8% of cases. Urticaria was more prevalent in males and school-aged children, while vitiligo had a prevalence of 2.2%, slightly higher than international reports. Nail disorders were found in 1.6% of children. The study emphasized the need for further research and educational programs to address pediatric skin diseases in Turkey.
