Skin Gamma Delta T Cell Gene Expression Highlights Stress Response in Alopecia Areata 2258104

    This study investigates the role of γδ T cells in alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease causing patchy hair loss. By analyzing single-cell RNA sequencing data from both mouse and human skin, researchers identified that γδ T cells upregulate stress response genes, such as HSP70, HSP90AA1, and others, during alopecia areata. In mice, these cells also increase expression of chaperones like CD74 and receptors like Ly6A/E, particularly around hair follicles and skin layers. The study highlights that T cells undergo significant stress responses, suggesting they could be potential targets for therapeutic interventions in alopecia areata.
