The study focuses on traumatic anserine folliculosis (TAF), a condition characterized by keratotic papules, often confused with other follicular skin diseases like lichen spinulosus. It primarily affects children and occurs in areas subject to friction, such as the chin and elbows. The study utilized noninvasive techniques like reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM) and dermoscopy to identify features such as excessive keratinization, epidermal thickening, and dilated hair follicles with cornified plugs, without significant inflammatory cell infiltration. These findings help differentiate TAF from similar conditions. The study emphasizes the need for larger-scale research to enhance understanding and diagnosis of TAF, as the current sample size is small.
