TLDR Sonidegib effectively treated basal cell carcinoma in a patient with lupus without worsening lupus symptoms.
This case report discusses the use of sonidegib, a Hedgehog pathway inhibitor, in treating a patient with basal cell carcinoma (BCC) who also has systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). While sonidegib is approved for inoperable or radiotherapy-unsuitable BCC, its effects on autoimmune conditions like SLE are not well-documented. In this case, the patient experienced positive outcomes from sonidegib treatment without any activation of lupus erythematosus symptoms, suggesting that sonidegib can be a viable treatment option for BCC in patients with concurrent autoimmune disorders.
