TLDR Green spinach leaf extract at 15% concentration promotes hair growth in rabbits.
The study explored the use of green spinach leaf extract (Amaranthus viridis) as a natural hair growth agent in New Zealand rabbits. The extract was formulated into hair tonics at 5%, 10%, and 15% concentrations. The 15% concentration (F3) showed the highest average hair growth of 10.67 mm, indicating significant effectiveness compared to the negative control. The active compounds, such as flavonoids, tannins, and saponins, contribute to hair growth by enhancing blood circulation, protecting follicles from oxidative stress, and strengthening hair roots. The formulations were stable and met cosmetic standards, suggesting potential as a natural treatment for hair loss. However, further research is needed on humans and other concentrations.
