Spironolactone Therapy for Hidradenitis Suppurativa

TLDR Spironolactone reduces pain and lesions in hidradenitis suppurativa patients.
Spironolactone, an androgen antagonist, was reported to significantly reduce pain, lesion count, and Hidradenitis Suppurativa Physician Global Assessment (HSPGA) scores in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). Despite the lack of robust evidence for antiandrogens in HS treatment, studies by Golbari et al. and Lee and Fischer demonstrated positive outcomes in patients treated with spironolactone, including a significant reduction in HSPGA and lesion count in a cohort and in 20 patients, respectively.
