TLDR A boy's hair that was frizzy and hard to comb returned to normal after 9 months, possibly due to genetic factors.
A 2-year-old boy exhibited a sudden onset of uncombable hair syndrome (UHS)-like symptoms, characterized by frizzy, straw-colored hair resistant to combing, which resolved spontaneously after 9 months. Genetic analysis identified a heterozygous variant in the PLCD1 gene, though its relevance to the condition remained unclear. This case suggested that a genetic cause might lead to temporary hair shaft changes, potentially triggered by an unknown external factor. The boy's hair returned to normal without treatment, raising questions about the underlying mechanisms of UHS-like conditions.
