TLDR Staphylococcus in dogs with skin infections is most sensitive to Linezolid.
The study focused on isolating and profiling the antibiotic sensitivity of Staphylococcus species in 57 dogs with canine pyoderma at the Veterinary Clinical Complex in Jabalpur. Common symptoms included pruritus, erythema, pustules, papules, crusts, epidermal collarettes, and alopecia, with pruritus being the most prevalent at 73.68%. Diagnosis was based on clinical signs and bacteriological examination. The antibiotic sensitivity test showed that Staphylococcus spp. had the highest sensitivity to Linezolid (100%), followed by Doxycycline hydrochloride (98.24%), Cefpodoxime (82.45%), Mupirocin (80.70%), Clindamycin (73.68%), and Amoxycillin Clavulanic acid (77.19%).
