TLDR Cosmetic surgery is increasing in Japan, and better databases are needed.
This study analyzed data from 152,457 patients in Japan, revealing a significant increase in cosmetic procedures, especially those related to the eyes and dark circles, while face-lifts and Botox injections decreased. It highlights a demographic shift with more students and ordinary people undergoing procedures, influenced by social media and targeted campaigns, and notes regional differences with increased procedures in provincial cities. Despite limitations like retrospective analysis and rapid group expansion, the research provides a preliminary understanding of cosmetic surgery trends in Japan and emphasizes the need for a more detailed database for future evidence accumulation.
