Sterile Suppurative Folliculitis Associated with Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia
TLDR A rare skin condition linked to leukemia improved with chemotherapy.
A 20-year-old woman with acute myeloblastic leukemia (M1) presented with follicular papules on her trunk and extremities. A skin biopsy revealed a dermal infiltrate of neutrophils, eosinophils, histiocytes, and atypical cells identical to leukemic myeloblasts. Cultures were negative for bacteria and fungi. The follicular eruption improved with chemotherapy, suggesting a rare follicular variant of neutrophilic dermatosis associated with myelogenous leukemia.
