TLDR Facial trichostasis spinulosa is a chronic condition with significant cosmetic impact, especially in young women.
This study of 100 patients with facial trichostasis spinulosa (TS) reveals its significant cosmetic impact, especially in young adults, with 81% of patients being female. Dermoscopy proved useful in diagnosing TS, showing vellus hairs and keratotic plugs in 68% of patients. TS often coexists with acne vulgaris, rosacea, and seborrheic dermatitis, suggesting shared pathways. Despite treatments like keratolytics and laser interventions, recurrence is common, indicating TS as a chronic condition. The study calls for more research into TS pathogenesis and its comorbidities.
