TLDR Premature graying of hair is common among students and linked to genetics, smoking, keto diet, and hair coloring.
This study surveyed 239 medical students in Saudi Arabia and found a 37.2% prevalence of premature graying of hair (PMGH). Significant associations were identified between PMGH and factors such as smoking, keto diet, hair coloring, and family history of PMGH. The study suggests that both genetic and modifiable factors contribute to PMGH, and that increased awareness and early lifestyle changes could potentially reduce its incidence and psychosocial effects.
