Sublingual Minoxidil 5 mg Versus Oral Minoxidil 5 mg for Male Androgenetic Alopecia: A Double-Blind Randomized Clinical Trial

This double-blind, randomized clinical trial compared the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of sublingual minoxidil (SM) 5 mg per day versus oral minoxidil (OM) 5 mg per day for 24 weeks in 110 men with male androgenetic alopecia. The study found no significant difference in hair density increase or clinical improvement between the two groups, although palpitations were less frequent in the SM group (0% vs. 9%). Both treatments were well tolerated, but SM did not demonstrate superiority over OM. The study's limitations include its single-center design and small sample size.
