TLDR Patients with hematologic cancer had mild anxiety, low surgical knowledge, and the pandemic increased their anxiety.
The study investigated the surgical experiences, anxiety levels, and symptom management practices of 74 patients with hematologic cancer. The average age was 63.76 years, with 47.3% female and 47.3% diagnosed with lymphoma. Results showed mild anxiety levels with a mean Beck Anxiety Scale score of 11.36. Significant differences were found between education, employment status, and various factors like postoperative education, gender-related hair loss, and the impact of COVID-19 on chemotherapy. Patients had low knowledge about surgical procedures but did not engage in negative practices due to chemotherapy. The pandemic influenced anxiety levels.
