TLDR The bio-based hair serum is a sustainable and effective alternative to silicone serums, offering better hair protection and eco-friendly benefits.
The study presents a novel dual-phasic bio-derived hair serum as a sustainable alternative to conventional silicone-based serums. The serum, formulated with essential oils like Meadowfoam seed oil, wheat germ oil, peppermint oil, and rosemary oil, along with polyols such as glycerol and sorbitol, offers natural hair-conditioning and scalp-rejuvenating benefits. It also includes vitamins H and E for added nourishment. The serum demonstrated excellent physicochemical stability, with a suitable pH range for hair care, and enhanced cuticle integrity and surface smoothness as confirmed by scanning electron microscopy. Thermal analysis showed good compatibility and stability, while consumer assessments highlighted positive topical attributes and esthetic appeal. Antimicrobial testing confirmed satisfactory preservation efficacy. Overall, the bio-based serum provides an effective and eco-friendly alternative to silicone-based products, with enhanced functionality and consumer appeal.
