TLDR Continued ritlecitinib treatment helps sustain hair regrowth in alopecia areata patients.
The study assessed the efficacy and safety of ritlecitinib for alopecia areata over 48 weeks in 718 patients. It found that over 80% of patients who responded by week 24 maintained their response through week 48. Additionally, up to one-third of those who did not initially respond showed improvement by week 48. The findings suggest that continued treatment can lead to sustained hair regrowth, even for those with extensive hair loss. Ritlecitinib was generally safe, with most adverse events being mild or moderate. However, the study's post hoc nature and small sample sizes limit the precision of these findings, indicating a need for longer-term data.
