TLDR Glycolon is the best suture material for tooth extraction surgeries.
The study compared the mechanical properties of suture materials used in tooth extraction, specifically Vicryl, Prolene, PGA Resorba, and Glycolon. Using the Instron 5969 apparatus, the strength and extensibility of these materials were measured, while capillarity was assessed with a custom device. Statistically significant differences were found in extensibility, with Glycolon and Prolene showing superior performance, particularly in monofilament form. The study concluded that Glycolon is the preferred suture material for tooth extraction surgeries due to its favorable mechanical properties.
