TLDR Tea extracts can protect hair from UV damage.
The study investigated the protective effects of Camellia sinensis (tea) extracts against UV-induced hair damage. It was found that the catechins in the tea extracts correlated with the prevention of protein damage and color changes in hair caused by UV exposure. The effectiveness of the extracts as antioxidants was measured using ORAC scores, which showed that higher levels of key phytochemicals resulted in better protection. The study concluded that tea extracts could serve as effective treatments for protecting hair from UV damage, with their efficacy dependent on the concentration of specific chemical components.
