This systematic review evaluated the use of antihistamines and dupilumab in treating alopecia areata (AA), analyzing 42 articles involving 395 patients. Antihistamines, such as oxatomide, fexofenadine, and ebastine, were commonly used and generally resulted in significant hair regrowth and reduced symptoms like pruritus and erythema. Dupilumab showed mixed results, with some patients experiencing remarkable hair growth, while others saw no change or had adverse effects, including the development of AA. The findings suggested that antihistamines could be promising adjunct treatments for AA, but further research was needed to explore their efficacy as monotherapy. Additionally, the role of dupilumab in AA treatment and its potential to induce AA required more investigation.
