The study assessed the safety and efficacy of a novel saw palmetto extract, SEREVELLE, for promoting hair growth in adults with self-perceived thinning hair over 180 days. Involving 60 participants (40 in the active group and 20 in the placebo group), the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial found significant improvements in hair growth parameters for the active group, including a 4-fold increase in terminal hair count and a 5-fold increase in vellus hair count compared to placebo. The extract inhibited 5-α-reductase-I and prolonged the anagen phase, resulting in thicker, denser hair. Both men and women, particularly menopausal women, experienced sustained hair growth, with no significant safety concerns reported, indicating that SEREVELLE is a safe and effective option for enhancing hair growth.
