TLDR Macrofocused ultrasound is a safe and effective treatment for reducing enlarged facial pores.
This pilot study assessed the safety and efficacy of macrofocused ultrasound (MaFU) using a 2.0 mm transducer on enlarged facial pores in 34 Thai patients. The treatment significantly reduced pore count, volume, and index over 6 months, with 91.2% of participants attending early follow-ups and 58.8% completing the 6-month follow-up. The procedure was well-tolerated, with minimal pain and no significant adverse events. The study concluded that MaFU is a promising non-invasive treatment for enlarged facial pores, offering advantages over other treatments in terms of safety and efficacy, despite some limitations like participant dropouts and lack of sebum measurement.
