TLDR Two siblings with scalp fungus improved after 2 months of treatment.
The document reported on two cases of tinea capitis in siblings aged 3 and 6 years, who experienced baldness for 1 month, initially presenting with red, itchy, scaly, and crusted spots. The hair was brittle and easily broken. Diagnosis was confirmed through positive KOH microscopic examination and cultures identifying M. canis and Rhodotorulla. After 2 months of treatment with ketoconazole lotion and shampoo, the lesions improved. Tinea capitis was noted to be common among children living together, with pets not always showing clinical signs of being infection sources.
