To Estimate Serum Vitamin D Levels in Alopecia Areata at Tertiary Care Hospital

This study investigated serum vitamin D levels in 67 patients with Alopecia Areata (AA) at a tertiary care center in India. It found a high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency (32.84%) and insufficiency (44.78%) among the patients. Although there was a trend suggesting that lower vitamin D levels might be associated with longer disease duration and greater severity of hair loss, these correlations were not statistically significant. The study concludes that while a direct link between vitamin D levels and AA severity wasn't established, the findings highlight the need for further research to explore the potential role of vitamin D supplementation in managing AA.
