TLDR FUE with topical CBD effectively treats stable vitiligo.
This study evaluated the efficacy of follicular unit extraction (FUE) combined with either topical calcipotriol betamethasone dipropionate (CBD) or NB-UVB phototherapy in treating stable nonsegmental vitiligo in 53 patients with 94 lesions. The results indicated that FUE combined with topical CBD (Group 2) achieved the best response in terms of repigmentation, color match, and size reduction, with significant improvements observed as early as the second week. Dermoscopy was crucial in monitoring repigmentation patterns, with perifollicular diffuse repigmentation being the most common. Additionally, there was a significant decrease in perilesional CD8+T lymphocytes after 4 months, highlighting the immunological impact of the treatment. Overall, FUE with topical CBD was found to be an effective adjuvant therapy for vitiligo.
