    TLDR Tretinoin is used topically to treat acne, skin aging, and various skin conditions.
    Tretinoin, a natural metabolite of vitamin A and the first synthesized retinoid, was used topically for treating various dermatological conditions and systemically for acute promyelocytic leukemia. Its topical use was approved for treating acne vulgaris and skin changes due to photoaging. Additionally, tretinoin was used for other dermatological conditions such as melasma, actinic keratosis, dysplastic nevus, striae, scars, alopecia, warts, keratosis pilaris, nevus comedonicus, perforating disorders, and porokeratosis.
