A Comparison of the Toxicities of 4-(Ethoxycarbophenyl) Retinamide and Some Other Retinoids

TLDR 4-(Ethoxycarbophenyl) retinamide is much less toxic than other retinoids.
The study compared the toxicities of 4-(ethoxycarbophenyl) retinamide (RI) and other retinoids, revealing that RI exhibited significantly lower toxicity. In acute toxicity tests, retinoic acid caused CNS toxicity, hair loss, and death in mice, while RI did not. Subacute tests showed that retinoic acid and other retinoids caused hypervitaminosis A symptoms, but RI did not. Chronic toxicity studies in mice and dogs confirmed that RI had much lower toxicity, with only occasional anorexia observed. Overall, RI demonstrated low acute, subacute, and chronic toxicity compared to other retinoids.

A 36-year-old man restarted hair loss treatment after a break, using topical Minoxidil 5% twice daily, topical Finasteride 0.01% daily, and Ketoconazole 2% three times a week, along with supplements like Vitamin B12, D3, C, Biotin, Omega-3, zinc, and copper. He avoids oral Finasteride due to side effects and plans to evaluate progress after a year.
