TLDR Ablative fractional laser treatment rejuvenates aged skin by activating genes related to wound healing and tissue regeneration.
The study investigated the effects of ablative fractional laser treatment on skin rejuvenation by analyzing gene expression changes in skin biopsies from 14 women. The treatment led to significant changes in gene expression related to inflammation, epidermal, and dermal processes, with effects observed as early as 1 day and persisting for up to 1 month. Fractional laser treatment was found to reverse many age-related gene expression changes, and multiple treatments enhanced these effects, suggesting that repeated treatments are necessary for optimal skin rejuvenation. The findings highlighted the role of fractional laser in activating biological processes involved in wound healing and tissue regeneration, contributing to its rejuvenating effects on aged skin.
