The research identifies significant differentially expressed genes linked to cashmere production, with younger goats showing enhanced fiber yield and quality due to active anagen-phase metabolism. In contrast, older goats exhibit increased gene activity related to stress and aging, correlating with reduced fiber production. The study highlights AKT1 as a key regulator in cashmere production and suggests potential genetic targets for breeding programs to enhance fiber quality and yield. However, the findings are preliminary due to the small sample size of 4 goats per group, necessitating further validation.
