Faculty Opinions Recommendation of Treatment of Alopecia Areata with Nonablative Fractional Laser Combined with Topical Minoxidil

In 2020, Wang W and colleagues conducted a non-randomized clinical trial on eight patients with alopecia areata (AA), an autoimmune condition causing sudden hair loss. The study tested a treatment combining nonablative fractional laser with topical minoxidil. The treatment, consisting of 10 sessions every 2 weeks, resulted in only one patient relapsing after a year. Interestingly, two patients with AA universalis partially responded to the treatment. This study was recommended for its contribution to knowledge about physical therapies for AA.
