TLDR Calcium hydroxide in an ayurvedic product caused hair breakage.
A 30-year-old male experienced hair loss characterized by 1-2 cm long fragments breaking off from his scalp, affecting approximately 40% of his scalp hairs. This condition, known as trichorrhexis nodosa, was linked to the use of an ayurvedic preparation containing calcium hydroxide. The hair defect was located 1-4 mm from the distal ends of the hairs.
