TLDR Hair density decreases with age, especially in the 60s.
The study analyzed hair density in 300 individuals at a tertiary care hospital, finding a significant negative correlation between age and terminal hair density, and a positive correlation with vellus hair density. No significant difference in hair count was observed between males and females. Hair density declines with age, becoming statistically significant in the 60s. The study underscores the importance of understanding hair density for diagnosing hair disorders and planning hair transplantation, and calls for further research across different ethnicities.
