TLDR Trichoscopy effectively diagnoses and monitors treatment in children with tinea capitis.
This study demonstrates that trichoscopy is an effective, noninvasive tool for diagnosing and monitoring treatment response in children with tinea capitis (TC). Conducted with 78 children, the study found that trichoscopic features such as comma hairs, black dots, and corkscrew hairs improved significantly by week 2 of treatment and resolved by week 8, with all patients testing negative for the infection. The study highlights that while trichoscopy can confirm recovery through the absence of dystrophic hairs, persistent scaling may not indicate treatment failure.
