TLDR TS-13 speeds up hair regrowth after chemotherapy.
The study investigated the effects of the antioxidant TS-13 on hair regrowth in a mouse model of chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA). Conducted on 30 mice divided into 4 groups, the research found that TS-13 accelerated hair regrowth in mice with CIA. While control groups experienced complete hair regrowth by days 13–15, CIA-affected mice without TS-13 showed delayed regrowth, starting on day 25 and completing by day 40. Mice with CIA treated with TS-13 began rapid hair growth on day 17 and achieved full regrowth by day 31, significantly faster than untreated CIA mice. Although TS-13 did not fully prevent cyclophosphamide-induced hair loss, it did not interfere with the drug's antiproliferative effects, suggesting a beneficial role in managing CIA without compromising chemotherapy efficacy.
