A Conditioned Medium of Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cells Overexpressing Wnt7a Promotes Wound Repair and Regeneration of Hair Follicles in Mice

    Six years ago, a study investigated the effects of a conditioned medium of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) overexpressing Wnt7a on wound healing and hair follicle regeneration in mice. The researchers found that this medium significantly enhanced wound closure rates, with rates of 25.3%, 51.6%, and 91.5% on post-injury days 3, 7, and 14 respectively. It also increased the expression of extracellular matrix molecules in the wound area, accelerated the migration of human dermal fibroblasts into the wound area, and promoted the regeneration of more hair follicles compared to control groups. However, it also inhibited the migratory ability of keratinocytes. The study concluded that this medium can enhance wound repair and hair follicle regeneration in mice.
