The study explores the potential of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (MSC-Exo) in promoting hair follicle regeneration in androgenetic alopecia (AGA) by activating the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Using male C57BL/6 mice, the research demonstrates that MSC-Exo can enhance hair regrowth, improve follicular architecture, and outperform 5% minoxidil, a common hair loss treatment. The exosomes, enriched with microRNAs like miR-21-5p and let-7b-5p, target genes crucial for hair follicle function, leading to increased anagen phase duration, follicular enlargement, and improved dermal papilla cell proliferation and differentiation. These findings suggest MSC-Exo as a promising therapeutic strategy for AGA, though further studies are needed to confirm these effects in humans.
