TLDR Unani medicine effectively reduced hair loss in a 24-year-old woman without side effects.
This case study demonstrates the successful treatment of Telogen Effluvium in a 24-year-old female using Unani medicine. Over 60 days, the patient's hair shedding significantly decreased, with the Hair Shedding Visual Scale (HSVS) score dropping from 10 to 1, and the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) improving from 16 to 1. The treatment involved oral Itrifal Ustukhuddus and a topical oil compound applied thrice weekly, which was well-tolerated without adverse effects. The study highlights the potential effectiveness and safety of Unani medicine in managing hair loss and suggests its integration into clinical dermatology, advocating for further research through larger clinical trials.

Minoxidil is discouraged due to its cost and potential for worsening hair loss, while castor oil is recommended to strengthen hair roots and reduce shedding.
