Long-Term Efficacy and Safety of Upadacitinib in the Treatment of Alopecia Areata: A Retrospective Study

A retrospective study involving 30 patients assessed the long-term efficacy and safety of upadacitinib for alopecia areata over at least 12 months. The study found high response rates of 90.0%, 80.0%, and 56.67% at month 12, with an upward trend over time. Patients with an atopic background showed better early-stage improvement in SALT scores compared to those without. No serious adverse events were reported, indicating favorable safety. Despite being a single-center study with a small sample size, the findings suggest that upadacitinib is effective and safe for long-term treatment of alopecia areata, particularly benefiting those with an atopic background.
