TLDR Bald characters in films are often stereotyped as villains.
The study explored the portrayal of bald characters as villains in Hollywood films, questioning whether alopecia is disproportionately associated with evilness. By analyzing the top 100 greatest movie villains from the Ranker List, compiled from over 1 million votes by 71,200 voters, the researchers evaluated each villain and their respective hero for the presence of alopecia. Hair loss was classified by type and stage, and the findings were statistically analyzed. The study suggested that baldness in films was often linked to moral decay and villainy, reflecting a stereotype that bald characters are more likely to be portrayed as evil.
