Vitamin D Deficiency and Risk of Hair Loss: Knowledge and Practice of Adult Female Population in Saudi Arabia, 2020

    TLDR Many women in Saudi Arabia know vitamin D deficiency can cause hair loss, but more need to take supplements.
    The study assessed the knowledge and practices regarding vitamin D deficiency and its link to hair loss among 810 adult females in Saudi Arabia. It found that 62.1% of participants correctly identified a relationship between vitamin D deficiency and hair loss, while 40% reported taking vitamin D supplements. The overall knowledge score was average, with significant differences based on age, nationality, residence, and marital status. The study highlights the need to increase vitamin D supplement intake among females to prevent related health issues.
