TLDR Lower vitamin D levels are linked to more severe hair loss in men.
This study investigated the relationship between serum vitamin D levels and the severity of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 30 Indonesian men. The results showed a significant negative correlation between vitamin D levels and AGA severity, with lower vitamin D levels associated with more severe AGA (r = −0.57; p = 0.001). The majority of participants were vitamin D deficient, and vitamin D levels decreased progressively with increasing AGA severity. These findings suggest that vitamin D may play a role in AGA pathogenesis, although causality cannot be determined from this study alone.
