TLDR Surgical treatments and topical tofacitinib may help with vitiligo-related eyebrow and eyelash whitening, but more research is needed.
This systematic review of 15 studies with 98 participants examines treatments for vitiligo-associated eyebrow and eyelash leukotrichia. Surgical methods, such as dermabrasion with split skin grafts and follicular unit extraction, are effective, especially for eyebrow leukotrichia. Eyelash leukotrichia has a poorer prognosis, but single hair grafting shows promise. Non-cultured cellular grafting and autologous melanocyte transplantation are also effective. Emerging medical treatments like topical tofacitinib and bimatoprost offer potential non-surgical options, though more research is needed. Surgical treatments are currently the primary approach, but new medical therapies could provide alternatives.
