TLDR Using sun protection and diode laser SHR reduces unexpected hair growth after laser hair removal.
In a study conducted at our clinic, paradoxical hypertrichosis was observed in a small minority of cases following laser hair removal, consistent with other reports. The study found no differences in incidence related to skin type. However, the use of daily sun protection and laser hair removal with diode laser SHR significantly reduced the incidence rates. Additionally, the periareolar area was identified as a high-risk region for developing paradoxical hypertrichosis, alongside previously reported common sites.
