Insights Into the Role of the Wnt Signaling Pathway in the Regeneration of Animal Model Systems

Katarzyna S. Walczyńska, Ling Zhu, Yujun Liang
The document reviewed the role of the Wnt signaling pathway in regeneration across various animal model systems. It highlighted that the Wnt pathway, an ancient and conserved mechanism, was crucial in processes such as cell fate determination, migration, polarity, and homeostasis during regeneration. Two major Wnt pathways were identified: the canonical (β-catenin dependent) and the non-canonical pathways, which include planar cell polarity, Wnt/Ca2+, and JNK pathways. The review emphasized the importance of understanding these pathways to potentially apply regenerative processes to human medicine.
