TLDR Key genes and pathways affect wool fiber thickness, improving wool quality.
This study on fine-wool Alpine Merino sheep identified key microRNAs, circular RNAs, and pivotal genes involved in regulating wool fiber diameter through whole-transcriptome and proteome analyses. The research highlighted the significant role of triglyceride and energy metabolic pathways in influencing wool fiber diameter. These findings provide a theoretical basis for enhancing the wool industry's economic value by refining wool diameter and quality.
