Manifestation of Zinc Deficit in Karachi, Pakistan: A Cross-Sectional Study

    The study conducted in Karachi, Pakistan, aimed to assess awareness of zinc's importance in human health, highlighting its role in cellular metabolism, cell division, and as an antioxidant. Zinc deficiency was linked to various health issues, including hair loss, growth retardation, and impaired immune function. Participants, selected randomly, completed questionnaires about zinc deficiency symptoms. The findings revealed that most participants exhibited only a few symptoms, while a minority experienced more severe symptoms but remained unaware of zinc's role. The study emphasized the need for increased awareness and recommended dietary changes or supplements to address zinc deficiency.
